What is the Government-in-Action Youth Tour?

Every June, as many as 1,500 high school students from across the country spend a week in the nation's capital as part of the National Rural Electric Cooperative Youth Tour. The students are sponsored by electric cooperatives – cooperatives that are committed to educating America's youth about America and the role electric cooperatives play in developing strong rural communities.

The Youth Tour Trip for 2020 is scheduled for June 17-26, 2020.

A speech contest will be held on February 16, 2020 to determine the winners from the Lighthouse service area.  Two winners will receive the trip to Washington, D.C. and a $1,500 scholarship.  One alternate will receive a $1,000 scholarship.
